Let our customers recommend Clark Boat Yard and Marine Works to you.

Princepessa

“Clark Boatyard combines small scale family friendliness with a high level of professional competence.  They have skillfully handled a series of complex maintenance issues on our Oyster 485 from a failed bow- thruster and a propeller destroyed by a rogue lobster pot, to replacing the rigging and having the mast painted.  Their advice is reliable, skillful and broad-ranging and they know where to find the expertise if they do not possess it themselves.  They have been looking after our boat since we sailed it from Turkey out of the Mediterranean and across the Atlantic to Jamestown three years ago, and it has been a real pleasure getting to know them and discovering the breadth of their skills.”

“I sailed into Clark Boat Yard (CBY) in Jamestown, RI the summer of 2008 and have been there since.  The mooring field lies in the shadow of the Newport Bridge on the port side of the East passage into Narragansett Bay.  The location offers a quiet retreat from the summer bustle of the Conanicut business district and waterfront off of Narragansett Avenue.  Gary, Mike and Sarah Clark are the owners and working operators of this small marine facility.  They have proven to be friendly, knowledgeable and responsive to customer needs.
My 1980 Shannon Cutter, which I have owned for over 10 years, had sailed herself into middle age and was in need of a “tuck and a lift” after spending 20 years in Florida and the last 10 years here in New England.   I approached the friendly folks at CBY with my prioritized list of needed refit work.  The Clark team provided me with estimates which enabled me to devise a seasonal refit plan that I could afford, while keeping the ship useable during summer’s sailing season.  The costs were reasonable; the quality of the work was excellent, and they finished when they said they would.  I highly recommend Clark Boatyard and Marine Works for all that they do.”

“Having hauled my wooden schooner the Thomas Hoyne many times at Clark Boatyard,  I can attest first hand to what a great yard Clark’s is. In addition to a crew with all of the skills needed to maintain and operate a large vessel, Clark boasts something even more important. This is a family run business with individuals who really care about their customers and their vessels. The yard provides excellent service along with flexibility. The atmosphere at the yard is such that one is never in a hurry to get back in the water and leave the great company of the Clark family and friends! I highly recommend this yard, a unique haven for a boat owner in the modern day of corporate boatyards.”

“I want to thank the Clark team for making my first day on Stars & Stripers very pleasant. Everything worked just great and I love the location of my mooring.
Thanks again and it is a pleasure to be associated with such a nice family and team.”

“I cannot recommend Clark Boat Yard strongly enough. They combine efficiency, quality of service and responsiveness in a way that I have never experienced with any other yard. Whatever the issue, it’s never a problem for these folks. And to top it off, everyone I’ve dealt with at Clark Boat Yard is incredibly friendly and pleasant to deal with; you feel like you are with family. I moor my boat in Newport harbor, but I make a point of sailing across the East Passage to Jamestown to store my boat and to have work done on it. A superb yard, staffed with knowledgeable, honest people.”

Syzygy4“Real competence is far too rare.  Clark Boatyard has plenty of it.  Work is done extremely well, on a timely basis, and at a fair price.  The boatyard also provides great mooring service, great view of Newport Harbor, and is only 15 minutes from the open ocean.  Can’t ask for much more.”

“I have been sailing for more than 50 years and in all that time I have not come across, nor dealt with, a better boat yard than CBY. I have some pretty sophisticated systems on my boat.  Any difficulties I have had CBY responds quickly and efficiently and solves the problem. CBY is a family owned boat yard and their pride of ownership shows. I couldn’t be more pleased with their excellent work.”

“I certainly was grateful for the on-the-water responses of Gary and Mike for separate recent “emergencies”.”

“My wife and I chose Clark Boat Yard for its location in Jamestown RI which offers the same world class sailing venues as Newport but is more convenient and quiet.   Jamestown is a great town to base out of with restaurants, grocery store, and chandlery.   Clark Boat Yard is located just outside of the town center and we are able to park at the docks. CBY is a family owned business and we appreciate their personal care and attention.  In addition to the moorings, it is also a working boat yard with top notch service including a “ways” so we can haul any time needed.  Great location, convenient and quiet access, great family service.  Perfect for us.”

“We have a sailing trimaran of a very uncommon design.  When we encountered problems, the crew at Clark went the extra mile (or knot!) to learn our boat and devise a workable solution.  That’s just one example of the kind of care and attention we have come to expect from CBY.”
